LegalSifter Adds Two More Experienced Lawyers to its Leadership Team
December 31, 2018
LegalSifter is proud to announce that we have added two more experienced lawyers to the ranks of our leadership team. Suzanne Ewing and Reg Weatherly have joined the company as Vice Presidents who together will lead our ContractSifter and ContractSifter Service engagements as well as participate in the ongoing development of our LegalSifter product.
Each of them has extensive experience using legal technology to serve their clients more efficiently, faster, and cost-effectively. In fact, Suzanne and Reg are among the few attorneys nationally who have experience designing and applying legaltech tools and techniques in their practices since 2005.
Ewing earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia after completing her B.A. in Education from The Catholic University of America. Ewing spent her nearly 30-year legal career at Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling and Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. As a shareholder and practicing attorney, Ewing represented lenders and corporate borrowers in complex secured financings and workouts as well as large acquisitions and dispositions before joining LegalSifter as a member of our leadership team.
"Reg and I understand the challenges that law firms and legal departments face in providing high quality legal services to their clients while meeting their clients' timing and pricing expectations,” Ewing said. "LegalSifter's A.I.-powered technology is a tool that gives lawyers a competitive edge in delivering first-class legal services."
Weatherly earned his J.D. from the University of Florida and his B.A. in American History from the University of Pennsylvania. Reg spent his early career at Holland & Knight, Rose Schmidt, Hasley & DiSalle, and Equimark, where he ascended to co-General Counsel. Prior to joining the LegalSifter leadership team, Reg practiced at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney for 25 years where he was a shareholder representing domestic and international entities in complex secured syndicated credit transactions and workouts, debt portfolio sales, due diligence reviews of syndicated corporate credit portfolios and large asset sales by banks.
“LegalSifter is the perfect platform to expand our legaltech abilities to include A.I. and all the potential it holds. It will be our job here at LegalSifter to help modernize the substantive practice of law by providing law firm lawyers and in-house counsel with advanced tools for delivering quality legal solutions for their clients’ most demanding tasks,” Weatherly said.
LegalSifter has two products – ContractSifter and LegalSifter – that solve pervasive legal problems. ContractSifter extracts data from stacks of documents faster, more affordably, and with higher quality than can be done with traditional tools. LegalSifter reviews contracts drafted for negotiation and gives in-context advice. Weatherly and Ewing will work with clients of both products.
“We are thrilled to have such capable attorneys on the team,” said Kevin Miller, Chief Executive Officer of LegalSifter. “Algorithms alone are not enough. It will take both artificial intelligence and expertise in legal problem-solving to change an industry for the benefit of organizations and law firms alike. We think we have a bit of a silver bullet at LegalSifter, and we know that having deeply experienced attorneys on staff is critical to our long-term success.”
