Lars co-founded LegalSifter while completing his graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University in 2013. His goal was to make legal services more accessible by creating artificial intelligence tools to help legal professionals lower their cost to serve. As Chief Science Officer, Lars is responsible for our AI platform, as well as the development of our Sifters. He manages our Data Science team and our Sifter Factory. Prior to LegalSifter, Lars honed his expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and mining unstructured data with companies including Accenture, Wells Fargo, Cardinal Health, and other Fortune 500 companies.
Lars holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Spanish from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Aaron Symanski
Chief Technology Officer
Aaron Symanski is a global technology executive with over 20 years of experience in SaaS and AI. From early neural networks through to traditional machine learning and now with large language models, his teams have driven value from AI. Prior to joining Legalsifter, Aaron was the CTO at Bishop Fox, CTO at Change Healthcare (NASDAQ:CHNG), Head of Global Engineering at Stats Perform (Vista Equity), Managing Director at Bank of America, and founded three companies as CTO/COO (finance, technology, and healthcare).
Aaron Symanski is also an Operating Partner at Carrick Capital Partners where he brings his technical and operating experience in cloud, data science, and enterprise-scale software to optimize the performance of the portfolio companies.
Aaron earned a BA in Economics, a Master in Computer Science (with thesis), and an MBA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Ken Adams
Chief Content Officer
Ken has established an international reputation as the leading expert on contract language. He is the author of the bestselling A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, published by the American Bar Association. Ken gives public and in-house Drafting Clearer Contracts seminars globally, and he consults with companies looking to improve their contract templates. Ken writes the Adams on Contract Drafting blog, which the ABA Journal added to its Blawg 100 Hall of Fame in 2015. As one commentator noted recently, “Ken is in a class by himself among gurus on how to say what needs to be said in a contract.”
Ken is responsible for applying legal expertise to LegalSifter’s products. He helps determine the LegalSifter software roadmap, coordinates the input of subject-matter experts, and serves as a member of the leadership team.
Trina Thompson
Senior Vice President, Services
Trina joined LegalSifter in 2024 and is responsible for all service operations including the client success and sifting services teams. Before joining LegalSifter, she spent 18 years in the financial services industry where she held global roles aimed at delivering client satisfaction while driving process efficiencies at scale. Trina also worked in start-up organizations within the employer benefits and financial care and wellness spaces over the past 10 years.
Trina‘s background includes studies in business and behavioral psychology at Arizona State University and music performance at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Karen Meyer
Senior Vice President, Client Success
Karen joined LegalSifter in 2024 to lead Client Success as part of the company’s acquisition of ContractLogix where she was CEO. Karen led the transformation of ContractLogix’s product consolidation strategy as well as the implementation of client success and growth models. Prior, Karen led Upland Software’s Global Customer Success organization. She led commercial and customer engagement and contracting teams for over a dozen products and played a critical role in driving Upland’s M&A and integration strategies leading to high growth and strong customer retention.
Karen also held product and client executive leadership roles at Qvidian, a proposal and RFP automation provider, leading to the acquisition of the company in 2017. She has also held prior roles at Manulife Financial, eHealth and Imagine Software.
Tim Donaghy
Senior Vice President, Technology
Tim has been with LegalSifter since 2024. As the Vice President of Technical Shifting Services, he leads the product and technology direction for the company.
Tim is a well-known industry expert, speaker, and author in the field of contract lifecycle management. Before Legalsifter, Tim was the CTO for Contract Logix where he crafted the vision for what has become an industry-leading SaaS platform. He has also held senior marketing, product management, sales, and technology leadership roles at Intellisoft Group and Contour Design; and in the U.S. Navy where he served on nuclear submarines.
Matt Darling
Vice President, Sales
Matt joined LegalSifter in 2025 and brings extensive experience in SaaS sales and revenue leadership, with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and driving consistent growth.Prior to LegalSifter, he served as Vice President of Sales at Muck Rack, where he played a key role in significantly scaling revenue during a period of rapid growth. Before that, he led the commercial team at Critical Mention, where he built the company’s first dedicated Customer
Success function. His leadership experience spans sales development, new business, account management, and broader go-to-market execution.Matt holds a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Akron.
Buddy Broussard
Vice President, ReviewPro
Buddy joined LegalSifter in 2021 serving as the leader of sifting services and helping to design the future of our contract-administration-as-a-service offering. He is currently responsible for our solution architecture team, ensuring well-designed client solutions, innovative AI models, and contract solution standards. Buddy has over three decades of contract experience, including nearly 9 years in project management and contract leadership roles in BP's Upstream Procurement & Supply Management group. He also served as a commercial manager at FMC Technologies, where he built and led a commercial management team accountable for developing, negotiating, and managing the performance of contracts with strategic customers.
Buddy holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English & Philosophy from Rice University.
Jim Madden
Chairman
Jim Madden is a Co-CEO & Co-Chair Investment Committee of Carrick Capital Partners where he directly oversees the sourcing and growth of successful software and software-enabled businesses. Together with co-founder Marc McMorris, he co-chairs the investment committee.
Jim is closely involved in the identification, selection and post-investment growth guidance of Carrick’s portfolio companies. Leveraging his deep understanding of sales, operations and corporate governance, Jim works with these companies to create substantial long-term value. Jim is an active member of the boards of several Carrick portfolio companies including DailyPay, Everspring, Exiger, Flatiron School, and LegalSifter. He also serves as the chair of the board of directors of Genpact (NYSE: G)
Jim earned his BBA and a BA from Southern Methodist University. He is devoted to a number of community organizations and is the past chairman of the board of directors of the Hoag Hospital Foundation. In his spare time, Jim is a competitive sailor who races his sailboat “Stark Raving Mad.” He is also an avid downhill skier.

Eric Hall is a seasoned SaaS and global operations executive with over 20 years of experience leading enterprise technology organizations through growth and transformation. Prior to joining LegalSifter, Eric served as Chief Marketing Officer of Adobe’s $5B+ Digital Experience Business, where he led go-to-market strategies, optimized global marketing operations, and drove significant revenue growth. He also held senior roles at Adobe, including SVP and GM of Professional Services and Customer Success.
Earlier in his career, Eric played a key role in scaling ServiceSource from startup to IPO and began his professional journey as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California.
Steve Unterberger

Steve Unterberger is a Managing Director of Carrick Capital Partners where he is directly involved in providing growth guidance based on his experience scaling successful technology companies.
Steve works with CEOs and executive teams to manage the key drivers of value that help companies become market leaders. He is a metrics-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves collaborator, and a passionate mentor. He has unparalleled experience achieving operational excellence and applying practical, ROI-driven methods for using technology to drive revenue and improve business outcomes. Steve is an active member of the boards of several other Carrick portfolio companies including Bishop Fox, Everspring, Factor Law, Flatiron School, Infrascale, and Renalogic.
Steve earned his BA in economics from The University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. In his spare time, Steve enjoys beach sports, traveling, family time, and re-living his former glory as an LA-based rock and roll guitarist.
Sanjay Srivastava
Director
Sanjay Srivastava is the Chief Digital Strategist at Genpact and chairs the Executive Technology Board, a think tank comprising Fortune 500 CIOs, CDOs, and CTOs driving digital transformation at the intersection of frontier technology, data fabrics, operating models, and process design. With a background as a CDO, CEO, GM, entrepreneur, and engineer, Sanjay has built four startups in edge networking, data center automation, predictive software, and enterprise SaaS, all acquired by major companies. He has held leadership roles at Hewlett Packard, Akamai, and SunGard, overseeing product management, global sales, and various product and services P&Ls. Active in the innovation ecosystem, he advises AI startups, serves on the MMA CDO Board, and is a member of CNBC’s Technology Executive Council. Sanjay has lectured on data and digital topics at institutions like UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
