Taylor Berg-Kirkpatrick is an Assistant Professor of Language Technologies in the School of Computer Science at the University of California San Diego School of Engineering.  He works on natural language processing and machine learning – the core technologies at LegalSifter, focusing on unsupervised (where a computer teaches itself) methods of deciphering hidden structure in language.  Taylor earned both a PhD in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He previously held an Assistant Professor position at Carnegie Mellon University.
